My brake caliper are apart for re-building. I want to refinish then but how do I remove the old finish? Should I take them to a powder coater and have them stripped and recoated? I want them to look like new. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Rich

I take mine to a qualified powder coater so they know what to blast and mask properly. Satin black color.
I also relace the bleeder screws since they usually show signs of abuse from over tightening. (oval or crushed bleed hole at the tip.)

I use paint stripper. Methyl Chloride aircraft paint stripper works the best. Nasty stuff and getting harder to find these days. Aircraft Spruce used to have 1 gallon cans, but last time I looked they only had 5 gallon cans.

Vapor blasting also provides safe paint removal with a nice finish.
