The 81 CBX gets some love

I’ve been busy restoring my 80 CBX and riding my 79 CBX so I’ve been neglecting my prolink. Riding it often, normal oil changes, washing it now and then, she always comes through for me. So I thought I would paint the big, ugly luggage case the previous owner gave me with bike when I bought it. I found a silver paint close to the stock color and black metallic for the stripes and red pin stripe tape. I still need to add a few more coats of clear after stripping it.

I don’t think the quality is up to honda line and yes the seat is a leather saddleman and very comfortable!! I would only put the rack/luggage case and queen/king seat on when we were taking overnight rides as my wife’s 75 gl1000 doesn’t have a rack and the prolink stock side bags don’t hold much but I’ve just left them on this year because the seat is soooooo comfy!

Here’s the original photo from when I bought it in 2016, taking me from my obsession with restoring 1975 gl1000’s to my new obsession with the cbx’s.
This one had 13,000 miles and a hole poked in the right side of the fairing from falling on a welder in the garage. He also cut the inside top of the inner fairing just above the two gauges to install a cb radio? Hmmm. Luckily I found a very beautiful fairing and shield for her.
