New CJ-4 Oil

I do not want to start an oil debate (and trust me, I would win), but recently changed from Shell Rotella CI-4 Plus 15w-40 to CJ-4 15w-40 on my 79, and my 2 oil leks dissapeared. I had beers with a couple engineers from Shell last week, and lets just say there is a good reason for this.
Beyond the oil leak issue, the new CJ-4 oils are pretty incredible stuff. And yes they are compatible with friction clutches, spur & helical gears.

And I still prefer Johnson's Baby Oil. That Shell Rotella left such a mess on the sheets.

Don't want to start an oil debate either (because I know, I would lose) but as I do hardly run any bike when it is below 40 degrees outside, I prefer a 20W50 in all but one of them. Don't know, if the new Rotella comes in that spec.
I use a straight 60 weight in my 1971 HD sidecar rig. That's a Pennzoil.
(Yes, George, it does make a gooey mess in the sidecar
)

no Roteall in 20-50, but there should be no reason not to run 15-40 when it is very hot outside.
George, I'm talking about oil for the bike not for drinkin' That baby oil gives me the Hershey squirts too.

I was surprised to learn that synthetics are not as good as dino for corrosion (rust) protection.

I had some small leaks around the valve cover caps, not heavy but irratating, tried CJ-4 and they seemed to have stopped leaking.

Tab, do you have a dab of sealant in the corners of the cam cover "half moons" on the ends of the cam cover gasket ??

No, but I will check the valves and put sealant in those corners. I was hoping to wait until the riding season was over but, it will not wait.Thanks for the tip. Tom
