"Sproing" question:
After reassembling the lower end, it seemed to move fine. I put the clutch back on and that seemed Ok too. Yesterday I wanted to turn the engine over by turning the clutch and it would only go so far me spring released and it moved freely. it was quite a noise but everything seems Ok and moves correctly, including the starter drive turning in the one direction but not the other. I suspect the starter drive arrangement had gotten caught up somehow and I hope it is now OK.
