Please I need advice, my prolink lurches forward when I select Ist when the bike is cold. Afterwards no problem . My local cbx expert ??? says just hold bike back on the brake while selecting as its a very heavy clutch on these bikes. Once warm no problem. Any advice .Thanks. Steve in S.A.

Many do that - perfectly normal in my experience.

Describes my '82 exactly.

When the bike is cold and all those plates are surrounded in thick oil, the clutch acts a little like a torque converter in an automatic transmission, so you'd expect it to lurch a little when you put it in gear. Once the oil is hot and thin, not so much. My 81 does the same thing.

My '81 does the same thing. I was also concerned because none of my other bikes have this much drag. Always good to have Dave's OK on these matters. THX.

To be clear, we are not talking about 'drag' here. After sitting, the clutch plates stick together, causing the lurch when engaging 1st gear. When warmed up in normal operation and properly adjusted, a CBX clutch should have no drag. If it does, then it needs adjusted or it has aftermarket plates that no amount of adjusting will cure.
