Clutch Adjustment

Dave,

I adjusted the clutch adjuster behind the cover per your instructions and now the pivot at the case where clutch cable connects to has about 1/2" of play, it had much less before. Is this normal?
My steps, Loosened the nut, lightly seated the screw, backed it out 1 turn and tightened the nut, screw did not move.
Thanks

Yes, you did it right, but those are Honda's exact instructions from the manual, not mine. Take up the rest of the slack at the lower adjuster, then fine tune at the lever.

As long as i'm on doing it right!

How involved is it changing the "O" ring behind front chain adjuster bolt?

Yours has the lock nut machined out for the o-ring. Just take the assembly out, clean it up and replace the o-ring. Hold forward tension on the crank nut when tightening the bolt, and DON'T over tighten the lock nut.

Assembly as in the bolt and lock nut? What will happen to the chain slack?

Nothing if you hold forward rotation on the crank nut when tightening. And probably nothing if you don't.

A couple of threads down was the specific question asked.

Re: front cam tensioner bolt

The bolt pushes against the rod on the front end of the tensioner and "locks" it, keeps it from sliding. The bolt should have a lock nut and an O-ring as an oil seal.
If you remove the bolt, nothing really happens other than the spring in the tensioner trying to pull the rod back and thus bending the tensioner plate and picking up the slack in the cam chain.
In order to make sure, that the tensioner takes out all slack on the return strand of the chain, rotate the engine forward before you re-tighten the bolt.
