exhaust smoking

I've noticed lately that I get a considerable amount of smoke when really accelerating and when gearing down. While the bike is idling, there is very little smoke coming out mainly on the left bank. Also a Honda mechanic friend of mine stuck his finger in the exhaust pipes. The right side is just carboned up but the left side has slight oil residue. Can this possibly mean oil rings, oil seals or burned out valves?
Thanks

Could be valve seals, Duane.
I would not worry so much about the smoke...instead, check you oil consumption after a long run or maybe 1000 kms.
Has the performance started to drop off?

Going back to Sept. 2009 I had asked you about the reason my CBX smokes. The bike seems to run great, although I find the exhaust smoke annoying. After about 200KM on the highway at about 120KMH, I use about 1/3 to 1/2 litre of oil
