Hi, I recently purchased a '79 model which is a 40,000 miler with a 6-1 exhaust. After being happy the bike was tatty but up together, I discovered the previous owner had been running the bike without an air filter element. I have noticed that the bike pulls hard up to about 2-3000 revs then seems to go a bit flat untill 6000 revs, ball park. Could this flat area be because the engine has too much air? If I whack the throttle full open from tick-over, it does start to bog. It does run ok, but is frustrating that the initial rush of power seems to fade out.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Darryl
Too Much Air?

Filter fitted
With the air slightly restricted through the fitment of a std air filter, the bike now runs fine and strongly throughout its rev range. suprising amount of power for a 26 year old machine. Nice.
