Is there a way to adjust the shifter. It is not quite as smooth to shift through the gears. It sticks slightly. Also to lift the shifter into neutral is quite stiff to lift with my foot.
Thanks Duane

Duane, ensure your clutch properly disengages. With the engine off, pull the clutch fully in ( when in gear) & see if there is any drag when you push the bike along. There is some linkage adjustment on the gear shift to get a correct foot position....

Duane, i would go with the clutch check first as well.
I have a '79 that will NOT go into neutral if the bike is stationery and the engine running. It shifts fine everywhere else, i just learned to find neutral before coming to a stop.
No way i want to start an oil debate, but the shifting on that bike did become easier with full synthetic oil.
You are out riding in Alberta at this time of the year?
Braver man than!

I had the problem of not being able to find neutral on my 79 CBX after I converted to a Prolink clutch. After going through 3 re-assemblies with the thorough checking of all parts, I found out I had mixed up the center sleeve and this caused an adjusting problem. It is fine now. But I think, still, the CBX tranny can be hard to shift and a little tricky to get into neutral. Especially with age and wear.
