Problem with CBX

Hey Guys, I have a big problem with the CBX.
Can't keep it under 5000 + rpm in any gear. I should have been ticketed by now.
All kidding aside the bike runs better every time I get on it.
Have been adding Seafoam to every tank and the idle and getting up to speed has been getting smoother.
Did have to adjust down the rpms at idle a few times already.

Must admit that the handle bars seem to be a bit too far forward and too low for my liking. I really don't know if I have standard height bars or lower bars than standard. On longer trips my hands get a bit numb. All part of the experience I guess.

Here's a few pics, if anyone can lend some advice, I'd really appreciate it. Two things I'm looking for,
1) The angle of the bars, do they look like they are a bit too far outboard?
Can I rotate them back a bit so they'll be a bit closer to my body, hence, then I wouldn't be leaning as far forward.
2) The height of the bars, don't know if what I have is standard or lower bars, (or is there even such a thing). Has anyone added spacers to lift them up a touch.

The height of my bars from the base to the center of the bar is 85 mm. Sound right for standard height bars?
Thanks as always.

Those are not standard US Pro-Link bars, nor are they Euro bars. Something in between. Pro-Link bars are not hard to find.

Can anyone send me some pics of the standard 81/82 Prolink bars, would like to see the differences compared to what I have.

Some good info on Prolink bars.
Thanks to EMS for the comparison photo.

There are hundreds of Pro-Link pictures out there. Just do a general search on the web.

Thanks Steve for the link.
Great comparison photos by the way, thanks to EMS.
Looks like mine are a bit shorter than the stock 81/82, but don't know what offset the standard bars are.
Can anyone provide a measurement, then I can calculate the difference.
Just went to the garage and rotated the bars back a bit, it's already an improvement.

The one thing you will notice with the bars rotated back is increased steering effort if the riding becomes a bit 'challenging'. Bars back does make for overall more comfortable highway riding IMHO.

So rode around a bit with the bars rotated back a touch.
Certainly a bit more effort to steer at low speed or starting off, but on open road no issue at all. Still find that the bars needs more height and more rearward stance so I'm not leaning as far forward.
So the question for all you guys that have lots of parts, anyone have a spare set of stock bars for the ProLink for sale.

I think we might have a nice set of Prolink bars that I’d happily powdercoat and swap you for those, 1:1, but it might be a few weeks before we can make it happen. We have an upcoming project that your bars would be great for, or they’d work well on a 79 with a Prolink fork in sport-kit configuration. Drop me a line if that timing is OK for you, nils.menten@gmail.com

Hi Nils, I may have a line on some Prolink bars up here in Canada,
BUT haven't committed yet, I need to see them first, before I swap out a perfect set of low bars,
so short answer, yes I will consider it.
I'll let you know what happens.
