Upgrading z front suspension with B

Post by AshishNJ »

I have a set of nice B forks , brake calipers , triple t and axle.

Would like to fit on Z . I have sports handlebars. I am wondering what else I would need to do the swap.
I heard 83-85 interceptor 750 bars are same as 39mm sports bars could be used.

The standard "B" or "C" Prolink handlebars are lower than the stock bars for the Z, but higher than the "Sport Kit" or Euro bars. The interceptor bars are 39mm and even lower than the Sport kit bars and the locator pins are in the wrong position. You will have to remove them. When you say, you have "Sport Kit" bars I assume you have them installed, so switchgear, cables and brake lines are not an issue.

You don't mention brake rotors. Do you have them? Need them to work with the calipers.

Here is a comparison of the bars. From left to right (low to high) CBX750 (Interceptor) Euro (Sport Kit) 79/80CBX, Euro Prolink (CBX-B,C) US Prolink, US 79/80CBX

Thanks for such details. I do have the sports kit. Also have set of rotors. Since sports kit is for 35mm and I don’t think they can be bored , would euro pro be an easy swap as long I can find a set ?

Euro Prolink is a plug and play.

As there was no "Sport Kit" for Prolinks, the 39mm CBX low bars are somewhat rare in the U.S.

email Bert at SCM he has a large stock of new and old European cbx spares. Great guy to deal with he has a large warehouse full of spares not listed on his website. I got my euro sport kit from Bert at a very reasonable price.
