Prolink Shock Available?

Post by mototroyce »

Starting a new thread because previous info is old. Please advise - Is there currently available a rear replacement shock assy for the 1981 Prolink CBX rear suspension? Internet search finds either out-of-stock, or nothing. I prefer not to rebuild the OEM unit. Thanks.

Another option is to contact Nils about the Ikon shock.

Additional comment: You are so RIGHT not to bother with the stock air bag. A proper shock will go far to make a 'new' bike of the prolink. To finish the job, put gold valve emulators in the forks.

The two most popular replacements are, as noted above, the Ikon and Progressive. Both are a huge improvement over stock. Between $500 and $650 approximately. I've installed two Ikons this year and they're excellent.

I had Mike Nixon rebuild my '82 stock shock several years ago, and that made a substantial improvement. I then went with the Progressive 465-1115 shock for the rear, new Progressive 11-1112 fork springs (with fresh oil of course), and that transformed the bike. For the better!!
