Delkevic 6-2 install
Just reporting on my Delkevic 6-2 install. 1979 CB1 2021253. When I received my exhaust I checked it over very carefully. I was able to find only one small pin head size chrome flaw. All the hardware seems well made. The crush washers are copper compared to the oem units so I opted to use oem units as they fit securely on the head; one less thing to hold or come loose on install. The centre stand and side stand rubber bump stops are not the same as my old exhaust but seem to work fine. The right side install went easily and prepares a person for the left side install which was much tougher. The key seems to be to keep the centre pipe clamp very loose for the install and I coated the inside of the centre pipe washer with a bit of grease. How far a person seats the centre pipe determines how easily and accurately all three pipes contact the head and centre in the finned collars.
All in all I am pleased with the Delkevic 6-2 exhaust and the install went pretty well.

I've had a couple of Delkevics that were very tough to install due to the center pipe bend being not quite right. Others report no such problems. I would, however, use the original Honda finned collars and any other hardware you can. They are pretty good reproductions, all in all. Bert and Six Center has recommissioned the 'Sankei' reproductions again, not sure if they are readily available here in the States/Canada.

My install is completed and I am very happy. And yes I do have photos...but how the heck do I post them? Please keep the explanation simple; simple enough for an old guy in his 70"s with few computer skills!
I ended up using the original heat shields as the left Delkevic shield mounting bolt for the heat gasket is too close to the drive chain in my opinion. I could see no difference in the quality of the finned collars or the split rings so I used Delkevic. I would agree completely with daves79x post above. The issue with the left side mounting problem seems to be a centre pipe bend not quite right and the need for the centre pipe to be inserted into the collector to just the right degree; a few millimetres makes a big difference one way or the other. Phots to follow I hope.

Just curious, aren't the #2 & #5 head pipes exactly the same ?

According to Honda they're not, but I can't visually tell the difference.

They are different. Ever so slightly bent to conform to the exhaust shape on different sides. If you really, really cannot tell the difference, you may have two of the same - which could happen if you do not have an original from new Honda system.

I have 5 odd center pipes, original Honda, and for the life of me, can't see the difference. I don't think I have all lefts or rights. But Mike and Honda say there is a difference, I'm sure there is.

When I took my original pipes off before the above install I set them aside. After my challenges installing the left side I pulled the right and left centre pipes from the collector to check if indeed there was a difference. If there is a difference it is very slight. Later that day I checked the Honda part numbers which are different. Don't know if that means the pipes are different or not.

The 2 and 5 pipes are different. I didn't say it is a lot and I also didn't say you couldn't swap them. But they are different. Here it is:
You clamp the rear ends of the pipes together, so they are tight and parallel. Check the space between the front ends. Now, swap them and clamp again. Space between the fronts is different. These came off an original, never changed 422 system.
