Factory Exhaust Questions

Post by Carl »

Honda uses some type of silver paint at some of the pipe joints. Other than being high temp, is there anything special about this paint. Is it available through Honda dealers?

Is it possible to have the stock pipes and mufflers re-chromed?

CHROME

Post by RIPPER »

If you have enough money, maybe! Will be very hard to find a chromer to do it.The residue in the used pipes ruins the chemicals they use and is very expensive ( can you say thank you EPA)

Somebody told me that plumbers have assorted rubber plugs to seal pipes temporary and can be used to seal exhaust pipes being re-chromed.

Exhaust rechrome

Post by Matt »

Some years ago (1996) I rechromed the exhaust for my 1977 Laverda Jota at a place in Eastern Texas, if memory serves. They did an excellent job at a reasonable price. I don't remember the name, but I was referred to them from a plater in the Dallas area named Show 'n Go. Perhaps if Show 'n Go still exists, they could still refer you.

Good luck!
