Exhaust gaskets,Which Side
I noticed that there is a little lip on one side of the gasket. Does this lip go towards the engine or towards the pipes. Thanks

It is advisable to anneal them ( soften them) prior to reusing, by heating to cherry red & dunking in a bucket of cold water.... I too wondered about the lip thing.. ??steve murdoch icoa #5322 wrote:Are you using the copper or fibre gaskets?
I have never seen a gasket with a lip. A crushed copper gasket might look like it has a lip around the outside. I use them twice, turning them over for the second application.

I think I've used the gaskets you're talking about. The copper goes around a fiber core and on one side it's rolled over itself. I do not believe which way they go in matters.
