Can someone tell me what color the turn signals on a1979 were painted. Gloss black, semigloss ?

Anyone know if I need to prime the plastic, any ideas for the brand of paint

More than likely, you don't really need to paint them unless they are scraped up pretty badly.
Seeing that you are in AZ. perhaps they are just bleached out ? You can use a restorative conditioner
to bring back their color. I use a product by the name of "Blue Ice". It is used in car washes to preserve
bumpers and other similar rubberized parts. I have never painted turn signal housings so this is the best
I can do for an answer. They are not painted to begin with.
Best,
Phil

Had to do lots of crack filling. They were undamaged but had several small cracks where the plastic met the metal, and each had a large crack along the mold line on the top. I used JB Plastic weld. So I must paint the filler. I have a friend who painted his cbx turn signals and they looked great when done. Unfortunately he is on an extended vacation with no Internet, and I dont want to call him since he ran a bike shop for 30 years and I expect he doesn't want to talk shop on vacation. The bike came from Arkansas to Az in march of this year

Paint them with the same satin black trim paint you would use on the headlight stay, handlebars, '79 side covers, etc. Everyone makes satin black trim paint.

All done. Filled cracks with JB Plastic Weld. Sanded filled cracks with 800 grit. Then wet sanded with 1500 grit, which I don't think did much. Then I cleaned with plastic prep, dried, then SEM Satin black. Hard to tell they are painted without a close look.

I like your paint drying chamber with the horizontal suspension system! Neat! :teasing-poke:

The antigravity chamber must have cost a fortune.

With that level of prep, the paint may last forever.
