Running lights

I've just been told the CBX i bought from the states in November last year should be delivered to me on friday (its been a long wait). I will be getting it MOT'd asap so i can then get it registered, before i do this i will have to change the front turn signal set up which currently works as running lights, am I correct in thinking its just a case of unplugging the wires inside the headlight bucket ? From what I can make out from reading posts on here, it is an orange with white stripe wire that does the left front & a light blue with white stripe that does the right front ??

That's all you have to do to disable the running lights - blue/white and orange/white disconnected. Do they not allow running lights in GB?

In most European countries it is not the running lights per se, but the color. You can only have a certain color in the front and certain color(s) in the rear.
If the running lights were white, they would probably be O.K., but then they would not be legal as a turn signal.
We have similar laws in the U.S. but they are mostly ignored by the custom builders and the cops do not know enough about them to enforce them.

Thanks for that. No they won't pass the MOT like that here in the UK. Not sure about the rest of europe though.

It never ceases to amaze me how various countries can develop so many different standards for making a vehicle safe. In Canada, we couldn't accept the US FMVSS standards, so we developed our own CMVSS standards, which are almost word-for-word the same as the US documents. They differ just enough to make some vehicles non-compliant in the adjacent country. What a FUBAR!

As a further example, to comply with US and Canadian standards, Aston Martin had to add side running lights to the front bumpers on my DB7s: the UK versions don't have these lights. Do they make my vehicles more visible? Considering Canadian and UK vehicles have side markers anyway, not really. Even the taillights had to be slightly different in the European and North American markets.

Bureaucracy is the word! And, of course, the fact that each "expert" - appointed or self-proclaimed - strongly believes that his idea of safety is the only valid one. Imagine what the European Union is going through, trying to adjust each country's laws and regulations to match the others as vehicles can be freely traded on sold between them. :laughing-rolling:
After over 25 years in the U.S. , I still can't get over the fact that traffic engineers set the red/green phases in the traffic lights so it is impossible to make it through two consecutive lights. Supposedly, it is safer that the flow of traffic is being interrupted. So, we stop at each light and waste gas. :twocents-02cents:

Couldn't be easier identifying the correct wires to disconnect.

Have to say it was a pleasant surprise to find the wiring hadn't been messed about with.
