Blinker Problem

Tried my turn signals yesterday, while they come on as they are supposed to, they don't blink, just stay on.
Any idea what would cause that, and a fix?
Thanks

The flasher unit under the right side cover is a likely suspect. Up high, to the left of the battery, in a rubber bootie. Replacements can be had at your FLAPS. Is the battery charged, and/or was the bike running?

Ok I'll have a look, Yep batt charged, I don't think the bike was running tho.

Some flashers, such as the original on my '79, will not flash when the voltage is a little low, such as when the engine is not running, or even if it is only idling. I replaced mine with a different stock one, and it worked fine. Later, when I switched to LED turn signals, I had to replace the flasher with a solid state one which will flash no matter what.

I have the same result as Spencer if the bike has not been run for a while. The indicator (blinker) sometimes doesn't flash even when the bike is at idle, just after start up. It's fine after she's run for a bit though.

Sure.
The problem was the PO ( present owner) is not tooo bright and despite labeling wires in the headlight when he removed it, he screwed up the reassembly.
The wiring diagram and an hour to figure it all out, and redo it solved the problem.
My advice is don't let that guy near your bike.

So I'm not the only one to look in the mirror to find the problem?

I'd put you to sleep with similar stories from my projects. Glad you got it sorted.
