Converting Euro Right Side Switch to US Model

Somehow, during the past several years as I was gathering bits and pieces to fit a Sport Kit on my '79 X, I managed to get a new Euro style right side switch pod, the one with the headlight switch in it. Now, I'm wondering if it's possible to use the headlight switch or just ignore it. I'm aware I'll have to adapt the wire harness to the US style plugs, not a problem for me (engineer/mechanic/etc.) but I'd prefer not to have to rewire everything from scratch.
If someone can provide a link or schematic on what needs to be done I'd very much appreciate it. I've considered contacting Louis to see if he would swap switch pods for a US spec one but thought I'd try here first. Probably not much demand in the States for the Euro pod anyway. Still not sure how I wound up with it!!
Thanks.
Eric

If it is a CBX switch, you can use the headlight switch. It will switch the headlight on and off. The bike is wired for this. The difference is in the plug. But there is no such thing as a Euro or U.S. plug. The fact that yours is different tells me, you either have a Prolink or a Bol d'Or switch (small red plug instead of white?) and not a CBX switch.

Yes, it has the small red plug.

Prolink then. Eric, I'm pretty sure I have that connector on a junk set of switchpod wiring. It'd be fine for your purposes. I also have a bunch of the teeny spades that engage into them that you can crimp on to your new switch's wiring. PM me your address and I'll put them in the mail to you.

P.S. Kerry did an awesome write up on this process a little while back.

I saw that but it was for the left side pod. Unfortunately, I have the right side pod that needs conversion.

Oh yeah, but still useful if only for the removal and recrimping in those connectors, if you're not familiar with that stuff already. Going to rummage now

Crap, I do NOT have it. Sorry for the false alarm. I do have a little case with male and female connectors I can have on the way to you in the morning. Sorry for the false alarm Eric. Give Louis a ping if nothing else turns up, for sure he'll have as many as you want.

Thanks Nils for looking. It'll be a while before I do the conversion, have to fit the 600cc barrel and 11:1 piston to my GB500 first!! I'll give Louis a ring when the time comes if I need something.

Not to worry, I'm keeping the stock barrel so can return to a 500 if I choose. Also, not planning on getting rid of the GB until I'm dead. Then, whoever gets it can decide to stay 601 cc or not.
