Dead Battey Question

I just replaced my battery in my 80 CBX 6 months ago and it will no longer hold a charge. It was a $200+ Yuasa battery and needless to say I'm little ticked off. Batteries here in Japan are really expensive so I would expect them to last longer than 6 months. Does anyone think the problem may not have been with the battery, but with the stock charging system? My bike seems to charge normally according to the volt meter. I easily get well above 12 v while driving even with lights on and 12v exactly at idle.

I would guess it is a battery problem. You should have recognized poor starting performance or something similar if the charging system was on the fritz. Don't they warrant their batteries in Japan? After only 6 months, in the U.S. I could return this and ask for a replacement.

+1, the 2.5 year old (undersized) original battery in my car was cranking slowly and then quit last weekend after a short time running the radio on ACC. The new battery has a three-year replacement warranty, and 6 years prorata. I'd investigate before you give up.
