Brake light stays on.

My brake light stays on when the bike is running. It will blink off when I wiggle the front brake lever. I think there is something wrong with the electrical switch ubder the front brake reservoir. I can see a tear in the rubber boot that surrounds the piston.
Anyone have a similar experience? Can these still be had at a Honda dealer?
Thanks,
Bill

Bill, I would isolate the problem & see if in fact the switch is the cause. Remove the switch, & with it wired, your brake light should remain on. Click it with your finger to ensure repeatability. If there IS a gap between the
switch plunger & the lever, this of course would be in the "made" (on) condition.
Not sure if still available from Honda but I would think so, if not, our friend LOUIS, is bound to have a good one..........

The switch should still be available from Honda. I just bought one earlier this year before we went to Maggie Valley. Sometimes the problem is only an adjustment issue which will keep the contacts open.

Or you could replace the switch with one from Bob Franzke, he'll sell you one complete with bike very reasonably. I'd be happy to ride it from Costa Mesa to Wisconsin for you.

Another remedy I often hear being proposed by experienced CBXers is to
TURBO-CHARGE it!

...then it would be so fast the red light from the tail light would shift farther into the non-visible red spectrum and no-one could see it with regular vision and it would appear to stay off till I came sub-light speed again and would need to have it visible again, wonderful idea!
