Headlight switch cap orientation

Post by ksquared »

A while back the cap popped off of the switch. I found it on the ground and rescued it. My rescue was too good as I couldn't find it for quite some time. Well I just found it but I don't remember how it is supposed to be orientated. Does the little red line face me or oncoming traffic? Also, any suggestions on how to make sure this doesn't pop off again short of JB Weld? Mine is a 79 with the US Sports kit if that helps.

Little red line faces you. Not sure of retention.

Gotta disagree, Larry.
Red line goes on top, facing on-coming traffic.

Thanks guys. We have a tie. I'll break the tie and go with Steve. It fits better that way :-)

I want to agree with Steve, however, that switch looks strange...a little different than the switch on all the CBX units I have...

Sorry 'bout that. Duh! Dyslexic old guy brain here. Yes, line goes as Steve said. Still don't know of improved retention, though.

Mike , i assume with the P for Pass button on your control that it is a Euro piece.
Maybe that would account for the different shaped switch?

Could be. I looked at all my Sport Kit switches and they are all the same. Have to check whether they are all Euro switches. Possible.
