Most times when I hit the starter button there is a delay before anything happens, most but not every time. Occasionally there will be a 2+3 second delay. The pics here show the inside but I haven’t taken it completely apart, just severed the halves. I can’t see any contacts. See the white box? Don’t know it’s actual name. It moves when the button is pressed. See the little ‘tab’ that’s between the white box and the edge of the switch housing? I removed it and can see it has a shape other than just a broken tab. When I reassembled the switch and hit the button the starter engaged immediately like it should. Tried it several times with the same good results. Anyone know where this little tab came from?

Re: Starter switch mechanism
It's a part of the locating pin bracket that slides into the plastic housing. They are often broken. Every one of these starter switches need to be completely disassembled and the contacts cleaned and re-greased. It can be a bit fiddly if you've never done it, but the old grease gets very hard and the contacts get corroded. It's a thing I realize few guys do, but it is a necessary part of any CBX rehabilitation.

Re: Starter switch mechanism
The broken tab, is it a part of the white plastic housing and will I need another that’s not broken? Is there an exploded view picture of the switch interior somewhere? Seems odd to me that the switch now works as it should. All I did was dislodge the broken tab.daves79x wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 7:37 amIt's a part of the locating pin bracket that slides into the plastic housing. They are often broken. Re: Starter switch mechanism
No, after looking at the part, it may be the mangled metal cover for the plastic starter switch. If it's pretty thin and yellow zinc in color, that's what it is. It also looks like the white plastic is cracked. If that's the case, you'll need some parts. Lose the Vista Cruz so you can get the whole assembly apart, then you'll see what goes where and how to remove the starter switch.

Re: Starter switch mechanism
It’s plastic and just dirty, not metal.

Re: Starter switch mechanism
If it's white - it's part of the starter/headlight cutoff switch housing. A quick cleanup of the part would have helped ID it.
