Carb Installation Question

Got my carbs back from Mike Nixon and am ready to put the things back on and have read the posts on the subject. I'm ready with the silicon spray and heat gun but have a question.
Would it be easier for the processs if you installed the carb insulators (new from TIMS) on the carbs beforehand then install the assembly onto the head or is the visibility such that inserting the carbs into the insulators already on the head is the best way ?
BTW, I can't recommend Mike Nixon highly enough. He did a magnificent job on my carbs and is a true professional in every sense of the word. We are all fortunate to have Mike's services available for these classic bikes.
Any thoughts ?
Pleased in San Antonio.
