Cleaning carbs

Post by Norton1 »

Just a little trick I learned - when I began working on this CBX it had set for some time. The carbs leaked like a sieve from all 6 of them - oh JOY I thought - but I went to the local store, bought a bottle of Fuel Injector & Carburetor cleaner. Cost me about $4 US. It was meant to treat 20 gallons of fuel so I poured about 1/3 of it into the CBX tank and started the bike up, let it idle for a bit, and then shut it and the fuel selector off. I did this every day for 3-4 days and by day 4 it was not leaking any more. I did ride it a few times while warming it up but so far no more leaks and it is starting on the first attempt and running quite nicely!

God bless
Steve
