I unfortunately removed the brass plugs that fit into the carb body ......the needle slides into these . The "plugs" are installed in the carb body wall. It appears that the plugs are a pretty tight fit, and I am having difficulty getting them back in the carb body. Does anyone have a trick for installing these ?? eg heating up the carb body or something like that
huh...

The only thing the needle slides in is the needle jet. They push right in and out.

To add to Mikes advice...
From the manual, quote:
"If the needle jet is difficult to remove, carefully press the needle jet from the cylinder side with a soft material stick."
The correct translation would be "wooden dowel."
good use foe a pencil...

That is what I use, a pencil. Occasionally I need something a little firmer, but usually a pencil pushes them out, and they go back in by the force of the main jet holder (main emulsion tube).

I would have to disagree with that, Mike. I know that this is what it says in your carb book, but in reality, the emulsion tubes do not go far enough up to press the needle jets into their seat. I just went through this on a set of carbs. I had to use a plastic rod to push them in. One of the problems is, that you have to wiggle a little, because there is a shoulder they sit against and you have to get them centered exactly in order to get them past the shoulder. Otherwise you press and press and they don't go anywhere.
