Airbox mystery brackets

There are two brackets coming off the top of the airbox on my '80 that don't seem to serve any purpose. They have 6mm threadnuts built into them to accept a 6mmx1pitch bolt, and they line up with two oblong holes in the frame just ahead of the L-bracket for the fuel tank. However, there's a fairly big space between the airbox and the frame, so if I put two bolts through there and tighten them up, it will raise the aribox up quite a bit, misaligning it with the air filter box. Are there supposed to be rubber spacers in there or am I missing something else perhaps?

As always, TIA.

Bill:
If you have late model carb boots on with an early model air chamber, the airbox will be too low. The late model carbs mount at a shallower angle, as we discussed before. You can't mix-and-match early and late carb and intake components and have those bolts cinch up correctly.

The bolts that go in there are 6x35s. That is almost 1.5 inches long.

Yea, thanks, I know. I made my intitial comments before I had installed all of the motor mounts and the engine was sagging a bit... enough for me to think that the airbox was way too far away from the frame rail to bolt up. I used two 35mm allen bolts I had laying around and cinched 'er up. Thanks again for the feedback.
