There are two brackets coming off the top of the airbox on my '80 that don't seem to serve any purpose. They have 6mm threadnuts built into them to accept a 6mmx1pitch bolt, and they line up with two oblong holes in the frame just ahead of the L-bracket for the fuel tank. However, there's a fairly big space between the airbox and the frame, so if I put two bolts through there and tighten them up, it will raise the aribox up quite a bit, misaligning it with the air filter box. Are there supposed to be rubber spacers in there or am I missing something else perhaps?
As always, TIA.

Airbox mystery brackets - SOLVED
Yea, thanks, I know. I made my intitial comments before I had installed all of the motor mounts and the engine was sagging a bit... enough for me to think that the airbox was way too far away from the frame rail to bolt up. I used two 35mm allen bolts I had laying around and cinched 'er up. Thanks again for the feedback.EMS wrote:The bolts that go in there are 6x35s. That is almost 1.5 inches long.
