My slow jets are pluged on my 80 model. I have tapped the casting just above the jet and hooked up a air line to it. I am doing one at a time while soaking the other 5 with gumout, Seafoam,WD-40 and anything else that I can think of. I have a constant air supply over night with 90 psi and it is still plugged. I have had 300psi on it for the last hour and nothing is happening.
Has anyone ever pulled the freeze plug looking thing near the mixture screw????
Any Slow jet ideas ???

Slow jets
Don, Check this site under-Major CBX Engine Problems- April 25. I did both my bikes in 2 days with this method. If you have the carbs sitting up-side-down follow the casting down to where you can see it branch off towards the corner of the carb. This is where it usually plugs. That is the route that the fuel flows to the carb throat. It comes out on the engine side of the throttle plate thru a very tiny hole. If you take some tapered speaker wire and put about a 30 degree bend on the tip of it you can follew the passageway down to the branch off point and with some luck get the tip of it into where it makes the bend!! When it does finally flow you can fill the jet tower with fuel and it will drain in 4-5 seconds. To help it along you can taper the spray tube on a can of carb cleaner to fit into the top of the jet tower but be careful because it may spit back !! -David
Don't think of it as a motorcycle-- Think of it as a very fun 2-wheeled engine stand powered by a Japanese Slant Six !!
plugged slow jets
I have seen at times that the slow jets were so plugged up that I had to pull them out of the castings. I used a small and long screw and turned it in the slow jet, once a good grip was obtained I used my pliers to wedge it out. Once out, it was easier to deal with, a little bit of heat with my propane torch and it was a matter of seconds. If you can't pull them out, try using a little heat at the bottom of the slow jet to soften the crud.
I have some very nice cut away views of the entire circuit of the slow jets, if you would like to view the pictures email me and I'll be glad to send them to you and perhaps work with you on the problem your having.
