Got my sons CBX from Nova Scotia couple of weeks ago. Going thru the bike before trying to clean it up, adjust vavles, check brakes, etc. Bike has a miss so started opening up carb floats and found #4 getting no fuel. I've put some Sea Foam in tank and tried tapping the float, carb. Gonna try getting the float bowl off without taking off carbs with a 90 degree screwdriver I have.
Wish me luck.... really don't want to drop engine
Stuck #4 float

Well, got the float free.
My 90 degree screwdriver couldn't get enough torque to loosen the screws and tapping the bowl/body didn't seem to work. Not wanting to drop engine forward I tried, out of desperation, removing the drain screw and wiggle a twist tie wire into float chamber... it worked!!! Could 'feel' it against the float and when it dropped.
Then took bike out on highway for a spin, to get the Sea-Foam thru-out system before balancing carbs and remember what the bike rides like, been about 4-5 years.
Pulls strong but compared to the FJR, handling shows it age. Got it up to 160km/hr before saying enough is enough.... just too nervous.
But still a head turner. Supertrapps have a sound of their own. Now just have to clean off the salt corrosion
