Fuel Petcock sizes?

So my '82 CBX is almost finished, I take the NOS tank out of the Honda box to put it on the bike and the original fuel petcock won't fit, the nut on the petcock is too big.
As best I can tell, the fitting on the NOS tank is 18x1.00mm, the original tank fitting is 20x1.00mm. Both tanks are '82 white tanks.
I have an old '81 tank that is also 18x1.00mm, but no petcock.
Does anyone know if there is a bushing or adaptor available to mate the old petcock to the NOS tank, I couldn't find anything locally.
Or do I have to buy a new petcock?
Would the adapter nut for a Pingle vavle work?
Thanks for the help.

The 1982 petcock is different from the 81. The 1981 petcock is the same as the 1980 and 1982 has a new part-number. That, of course doesn't solve the mystery, why your NOS tank obviously has a 1981 connection. Unless the tank is a good repaint and somebody pulled a fast one on you

Thanks, guys.
I believe it is a NOS tank.
It looks like a factory tank as far as I can tell.
Bill at TIMS told me today he thinks it may have been a leftover
81 tank that Honda painted as an 82.
Louis is sending me a used 81 valve.

You should be able to tell if it is an original Honda paint or a shop job by looking at the underside of the tank. Also the source you got the tank from, may be an indication, if it is a poser or not. Where did you get it from? In the end, it doesn't really matter one way or the other unless you paid for the "NOS" tag
A good 82 tank paint is worth maybe $400.-. Add $200.- for the tank which puts an 82 resto tank at maybe $600 -$700.-. More would be too much.

I'm no expert, but as far as I can tell the tank looks original and is perfectly clean inside. I found the tank through someone on Ebay who knew of the tank and relayed my email to the seller, in Louisiana. The seller said he was going to put the tank on Ebay starting at $400 and offered it to me for $450 so I grabbed it. It arrived in a Honda box (I know, so what) with the openings sealed and except for the petcock
size I'm happy with it.
Thanks.
