Hey folks, rebuilding a set of '81's first time with a Randakk kit. Does this year require the slow jet plugs? Manual infers it does, just want to make sure, none were present on disassembly.

The plugs do come with a kit but i think that only early models like '79 have need them. Did your carbs have them when you disassembled them?
If so, perhaps you do have '79 carbs. What is the model number that's stamped on them?

They are VB 64A TA Carbs, no plugs in them when disassembled.....................but I suspect someone was in the carbs before, so wasn't sure. Factory manual 81-82 mentions installing them.

Sasha is correct, just the '79 had the plugs and the 64A A are indeed '81 carbs.
An old thread but the info is good.

Make sure all carb circuits are clear too, not just jets.
No matter into where you spray carb cleaner, it should come out somewhere. Mike Nixon carb rebuilding book is a must to have. If this is your first time doing them, do yourself a favor and get that book, you’ll be glad you did.
Many of us failed to clean them properly the first time and had to take them off few more times to get them right
