hard starting 79

I have a 79 that is stock except for a Kerker 6 into 1,dyna ignition and coils and I have drilled out the vacuum holes in the slides. It's really hard to start but runs great once running. I'm in the process of returning to the stock air box/filter. I'm hoping the K&Ns are the problem. Any ideas?

Have you considered that your problem might be electrical instead of fuel related?
A weak spark can make for a hard start.

I tend to agree with Phil.

Measure voltage across the battery terminals.

Then pull the tank off. With key and kill switch on, measure voltage between the black/white wire that loops across the back of all 3 coils and a good earth.

Compare the two figures.

Not uncommon to see a voltage drop of up to 3 volts. With the passage of time, the ignition system on a CBX is not it's strong point.
