Has this bike ever run right while you've had it? If so, what have you changed since then? You say the Dyna coils are new. Are you positive all wiring to and from coils is correct? Engine possibly not seeing correct firing order?

Any work done to the top end/cams? Are you sure the cams are timed correctly? I'd also pull the advancer to see if the weights are free.

After all this it still sounds like the carbs to me. You say the plugs burn a light tan. With the K&N drop-in - and stock jetting - they should be almost white. Most CBXs develop a flat spot with stock jetting and a drop-in K&N and the plugs burn very light tan to white. But they will still rev cleanly to redline.

Actually, putting the choke on should change SOMETHING about the way it runs. Are you sure the chokes are working properly? They are not being sucked closed at higher rpms?

Those are just some random thoughts. Good luck.

Dave

This was a running well running bike before it was put in storage.
Only changes were to replace all rubber hoses and Ign. coils. put taller gears in it. clean up carbs and reinstall, new brushs in alt.

Hi all problem solved. :D Back on April 28 alimey4u2 posted to check the spark advancer...Bingo  , Took m ine apart today and found it stuck??The two shafts had a small amount of rust on them?? Cleaned and lubed, repair small oil leak from clutch cover. Fired the bliped the throttle couple times seemed better. Time to take it for a test ride. pulled to 10k 1thru 3 no problem. :D Thanks for all the replys on the problem.

As for my where about lately. got involved helping Dan Sallis complete his Bucket list. removed the motor from my Twin Supercharged Avanti. And put it in a LandSpeedRacer Avanti. So he can drive at Bonneville. Will be taking the car to El Mirage june 13 to certify at 150

A guy owned an Avanti three houses down from me when I was a kid, I would go over and help him wash it whenever I saw him out in the driveway on saturdays, that car was way ahead of its time with its airplane cockpit and wedged shaped body, it was gold with a white interior. I grew up in a gearhead neighborhood, a 68 GT500 KR, 62 Max Wedge, 64 428 Galaxy and a 72 Pantera all within a couple blocks of me.

These neighborhoods are still there...just the cars are a little different:

Ferrari Testarossa, Porsche Carrera S4, Corvette ZR1, Audi RS3, Chevy Impala SS (the RWD, 1996), Chrysler 300 Custom Supercharged, Dodge Viper, all within "walking the dog" distance... :D :D
