carb jets

Post by MIKE DAVIS »

anyone have any suggestions on jets for a stock '79 with a Kerker 6 into 1 with a 2" baffle and stock air filter? It runs fine with the 1 1/2" baffle and stock jets but is probably a little lean.

If you do a search on this site you will see that almost everybody says stay with stock jets. That is what I do and I have restored several of them. Please don't take my word do the search.

Agree with Tevan on this.
I would be surprised if the baffle size makes any difference.
Run it for a bit and have a look at the plugs.
Some info here if the plug read show it too lean.

one issue that I have is that I live at 4,500 feet. I'm going to be traveling to sea level and don't want a problem. The only problem I had in the past with this change in elev. was when I was running K & Ns.

Agreed, a K&N can make a difference.
These carbs handle elevation changes very well.

It was K&N pods. It ran so poorly at sea level that I had to duct tape half of each pod to get it to run.
