Hey everybody.
With Mike Nixon's book and some help from Dave McMunn I've managed to disassemble, clean, reassemble and static test my carbs. Prior to this project, my accelerator pump was non functional. During the static check the acclerator pump worked, but not real well. The #3 and 4 carbs squirted, #2 and #5 were weak and #1 and #6 barely squirted at all. I used Randakk's kit but didn't replace my accelerator pump diaphram because mine seemed to be in very good condition so I wasn't sure what my problem was. After I read some of the posts in this section it came to me that maybe my old diaphram was too stiff from age. Sure enough, I replaced it with the new one and now all six accelerator pump nozzles squirt a good healthy shot of fuel. Sure am glad I did the static check like Dave suggested. :)

I am doing the same overhaul on a set of 79 CBX carbs. I was able to pick a set up to keep around for just in case.

Congrats. I have used this phrase often, the guys here have forgotten more than i will ever know about these brutes.
I have two sets of carbs apart right now. Randakk kits on the way.
I love the smell of carb cleaner in the morning...not.
