I got the slow jets out, had to drill the little bastards

I did a search, tried the torch to clean them-no go. Tried to tap them 4-40, just would not bite for some reason. Finally took a drill slightly smaller than carb tube held my breath and started drilling. #6 was so tight that I basically drilled almost to the end of the brass to where it necks down and the rest fell out. On # 1, I drilled about 1/8" into it and it fell out. Ordered a set of 6 for $22 +5 shipping from Sirius in Canada. Now I need to make sure I get the shavings out. I would like to whoop the f...ker that decided to press these jets in! Hey, let's make the one most likely to plug, the hardest to clean-yea, that's the ticket! I just hadn't seen this method mentioned, so if worst comes to worst-well, it worked for me. This is an 81 BTW.

Sorry you had to drill your jets out. Some taps don't have very sharp starting threads and are a bit hard to get started, but it does work just fine. But you won't need to worry about that now. BTW, the '82 carbs had screw-in pilot jets.
