Carb re jet question

My 82 lives at 6800 ft msl and was wondering if some one might provide the reccommened jetting for life at this and higher altitudes. It has a big bore with jetting set for about 2300 ft msl (k&n filters with headers). Runs ok but the plugs are real sooty. If re jetted, how low would you go before a too lean codition would exist Thanks

Any practical help for korvette kid guys ?

My question would be: "Are the plugs the right temperature number 1 & are they sooty across the range ( idle/midrange & WFO) ? before I would go about leaning things out...

Sorry I missed your post. I guess it's winter where you live too so you aren't doing much riding either! Anyway, to your question. Do you know exactly what jetting is in your carbs now? Is it a stage 3 kit or just larger stock jets? A stage 3 with individual filters, set the way the kit instructions call for, is usually too rich at sea level-2500 ft. Your bike would be predictably rich at your altitude. If yours has the stage 3 kit, it will have an adjustable needle. I'd move the clip to the top position (leanest). See what that does. You may be too rich on the top end also, but see what main jets are in there. If it has leaned out a bit with that change, then you could try setting your pilot screws at 1 1/2 turns out. Usually with a stage 3 kit they would be set at 2 1/2 or even more. That will lean out your idle and low-speed a bit.

Check on the above and let us know what you find.

Also if its a complete Dyno Jet kit it will have the Dyno jet jets, they flow about 10% more than the same size Keihin jets so keep this in mind if you re-jet.
