Carb float valve

Post by martym »

Hi fellow slaves to the CBX,I have just finished rebuilding my 1980 carbs with Keyster kits ,I have set them up on the bench and filled them to check for leaks and initially all seamd ok but after few mins 3 carbs started to overflow, tapped the bowls and drips stoped for awhile but then started again, rechecked float hight ,seemed ok but reset them slightly low and retried but still overflowing ,so the question is do you think it is just the new valves not seating? because I am tempted to refit my old valves as don't recall having a prob with them or should I give the new ones a chance

I may be totally wrong here, but I seem to remember that somebody posted about not using the float valves out of the Keyster kits.... Am I off?

Mike, You are no more "off" than the rest of us. :) Bti I too remember someone saying that the stock needles and seats are far superior to the Keyster items.[/quote]

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

Get the original Honda items back in there. All aftermarket float valves have that problem. They will seal fairly well eventually, but the risk of hydrolock is too great. The Honda items will last 80,000 miles and more.
