Signal light issue

I just purchased a 1982 cbx. The signal light flasher was not working so I purchased a new one. Now the signal lights work, but every time they flash so do the headlight and tail light. The headlight and taillight were modified to led by the previous owner. He had no issues. To be honest it appears the headlight and taillight dim when the signal light turns on and are bright when the signal light flashes off. I tried grounding the taillight directly to the battery. It did not help. Any ideas would be appreciated.
