Great bike, I just did 1,000 miles around south Texas on it’s twin, was great fun, Will enjoy helping you get this all sorted out.

Funny how you just loosen one bolt and they just explode
all over the shop ! But putting them back together is
nearly as much fun as riding them. 8)

Well, that’s not really a precision part, so most guys grease up those linkage bushings and reassemble. I’ll see if I can find one to measure, but can’t you measure one of those?

CMSNL sells pattern bushings and pins. Not terribly priced.

Whoa, I did not know that, and that's good news indeed.

I did mine in a lathe.

First i ordered bushing from cmsnl but i prefered bronze instead of plastic.

E is 20mm.

A is 14,6mm

Diffrence between A and B is 3mm.

D i did 15,05 mm

C i forgot to measure but i think you got that anyway:)

Collars is 15mm OD, 33 mm long and ID 10mm.

Good luck!

Summer fun is definitely behind me , so it’s time for garage fun. Like someone said, CBX just exploded in my shed. I did leak test and found that cylinder #2 leaks 25% on exhaust valves, all others are at 5-10%,( now lower compression on that cylinder have a sence). Now bunch of questions: 1) before I remove head, is it ok to reuse bolts, copper washers, head gasket and studs for reassembly, or I need to find new one? 2) By your experience what is common to expect with those symptoms, just valve lapping or complete head job? 3) Best way to clean carbon buildup from valves and passages, piston crowns….

How many miles? If you are this far, I'd pull the cylinder, have each bore/piston clearance checked and if within spec, install new rings (Bob at CBX Performance sells great stock rings), hone the cylinders. Then knock all the valves out, bead blast them. That one exhaust looks pretty iffy, almost burned. In any case, with any amount of miles, you'd be wise to just replace all the exhaust valves. They will be very hard to hand lap completely. Clean up the seats, hand lap both intakes and the new exhausts. Then get a set of Viton valve stem seals. Also carefully check your cam chain tensioners and sliders Yes!, you need a new head and base gasket. Once you pull the head, there is no point in band-aiding things.

Bike have 50000miles, checked pistons and bores, everything is still in specs. Slowly buying parts before start of assemble. Couple of questions:
1) Found Riken piston rings to buy here in Canada, any thoughts on them?
2) What grit stones should I use to hone cilinders? Cant find any info on Riken site.
3) What is white material ( like silicone) around all studs between cases and cilinders?

The white stuff is thread sealant - Honda used it at the factory. I'd have a pro hone your cylinders. I know nothing about the rings you reference. I do know Bob's at CBX Performance rings are good, as I said before. Sorry it's apparently such a pain to order stuff from the US.

Finally got cylinders and head from machine shop, and some new piston rings. And here we go again, another problem or dilemma. Bought 3 different sets of rings ( eBay, Riken, NPR) and all of them have gap 0,55-0,6 mm. Service limit is 0,5mm, standard gap by the book is 0,15-0,30.
Cylinders are all at the 64,59, almost at the service limit after diamond honing at the machine shop.
Pistons are standard and still in specs.
Is there any solution or some other rings which can be fitted to make ring gaps in specs, or I need new piston-ring set one over?

I don’t wanna ruin bottom end gaskets if I put engine together with to big ring gaps; any experience with this?
