Re: Jon's cbx
So the new swingarm came today, but was not as expected. Think i got the wrong cb swing.
I can shorten it but looking for a more bolton.

Re: Jon's cbx
…a now the adventure begins.
Can I ask why you’re ditching the monoshock and the rising-rate linkage? The Prolink setup with the stock monoshock offers ~4 inches of rear wheel travel in a rising rate setup, When paired with a decent aftermarket shock like a Progressive/Ikon/YSS/Wilbers, it’s quite good - compliant and comfy over little stuff, very controlled and well damped over bigger stuff. Most any twin-shock setup you graft onto it is going to result in less rear suspension travel.
Is this mostly a style consideration? That’s reason enough, I’m certainly not faulting you for that, but it cant be performance-related, in my opinion.

Re: Jon's cbx
Totally agree with Nils. However, if you must have twin shocks, you have the best swingarm you could possible get already there. Just weld on a set of shock eyes. You can also machine off the Pro-Link linkage mounts for using a wider rear tire.

Jon, impressed with the excellent condition of your bike. I mean, look at that exhaust!
Jeg må berømme deg for engelsken din, den er utmerket.
Best of luck with your mods.
I think you might find that any swing arm of more recent manufacture will the reflect the trend that factories took of increased length.

Hi Jon
Check the Yamaha XJR 1300 swingarm for your project. I had no big issues with it.
Best design has the latest model RP19

Re: Jon's cbx
Nothing wrong with them they are sturdy but heavy as hell, a lot of unsprung weight going on there, most modern swingarms are aluminum for a reason and have better axle adjusters and adjustment, like the eccentrics on the ZRX I posted.
If none of that is a concern I’d do what Dave suggested, it’s a proven and easy modification.

Re: Jon's cbx
Jeff - he already has an aluminum swingarm - it's a Pro-Link. Nothing better than that to weld shock eyes onto and it already bolts on.

Re: Jon's cbx
Yes but like I mentioned, most the modern swingarms have eccentric adjusters, makes it a breeze to drop your rear wheel, and the eccentrics allow up and down and back and forth adjustments.
