Corvettes anyone?

Post by EMS »

I have a little side-interest in these particular four-wheelers, so I followed the introduction of the new "C-7", 2014 "Stingray"
Generous Motors just released the prices for the new icon:
Coupe base price is $51,995 - $1,400.- above the previous model.
Convertible base is $56,995 - $1,240.- above the 2013.
Base engine is a 6.2L V-8 with cylinder deactivation and a 7-speed manual.
Trim/model levels for the coupe: 2LT - $56,205, 3LT - $60,000, available options (examples): Sport seats $2,495.-, exposed carbon fiber $1,995.- magnetic damping system $ 1,195
GM said the 3LT witht he Z51 package as shown during the introduction at the Detroit Auto Show in January had a sticker of $73,360
Ouch, ouch, ouch
GM quotes: "to keep the sports car price attainable", 'with the goal of delivering more than expected for our customers".... :laughing-rolling:

My 1990 ZR-1 was $60,500.- and included basically all the options available back then
Last year, GM sold 14,132 Corvettes, less than half of the 28,000 -36,000 range that the Vette hit during most of the past 15 years. I really wonder why.... :sad-roulette:
