This is a report from a friend of a friend who is getting ready to best his standing Land Speed Record in Bolivia.
My friend Rocky is in Bolivia in a place called Salidas de Uyuni getting ready to attempt to break his current record of 376 mph in a motorcycle streamliner.
They arrived a few days ago and our doing the tourist thing while they are waiting on their shipping containers to arrive.
This location is at 12,000 feet so Rocky has been spending time in Tahoe bicycling and hiking some of the 10,000 ft peaks to acclimate himself to the high altitude. He’s also doing the 10,000 push up and sit-up challenge with me and a few other friends. He’s in his early 60s.
Course is setup and from the reports I have read the course is dry, very hard and nearly 17 miles long. Plenty of real estate to lay down some big numbers. Rocky and team have data from years passed that they have exceeded the 400 mark but never set a record over 400. It’s a big number for a long duration for a two wheeled machine.
From Rocky today
Got to check out the new course today. Salt is hard and dry. Should be ideal for some great speed runs. Our equipment should be here sometime tomorrow. This evening we took a quick trip to the Uyuni Train Cemetery. Never know what you’re going to see here. Excited to start racing in 2 days. Until then we are all enjoying the ride…
Here he is, his team and rig. Some other machines as they filter in, turbo bike and a wicked snowmobile.

From Al Lambs page. He owns a Honda Dealer in the Dallas area. When I set my records in 2009 Al and his team helped me keep my going all week as we had several mechanical
Bolivia Update!
Tech is finished. Bike is prepped and we are ready to run! A little windy and behind schedule today, so we will do our first run tomorrow!
The Honda CBR1000RR looks immaculate, and we are on course to push for a 300MPH record! Thank you to all of our sponsors and everyone who has been supporting us this far! We are pushing hard to make history! We have the event, the bike, the pilot, and the location all working for us, fingers crossed we make it all happen tomorrow!
How does BIG RED look? We may be biased but we think it’s the best looking bike at the event haha!

Jesus. I assumed this was in some enclosed streamliner. He’s going to try for 300 MPH on that!!?? That takes giant brass balls and I wish him all good fortune and success.

Re: Bolivian LS trails
These guys are just made different, Got to love it!
According to boots on the ground in Bolivia:
Our own SDRC Member “Jim Knapp had a shake down run and chute pull at the 2 mile. Coasted through at 250mph at the 2mile.”
Thanks to JP Afflick for the report
