I went halves with a friend to buy one of those for about $50 in 1973
It had no motor or brakes, so we added a Briggs and Stratton lawnmower engine with a direct chain drive to one real wheel.
We were kicked out of everywhere we rode it, so we traded it for an 80 Suzuki.
Thanks for the memories.

I asked my younger sister if she remembers it:

"Yes, I do! Don’t you remember you tried to kill me in it a few times?
Sending me across finch in it with no brakes,
Then as the test pilot, go down the ramp you built,
and then go around the track at Northview Heights until the janitor called the cops. Lol"

Growing up a couple brothers owned a twin just like this one in the auction, not pristine like it but just as effective. Their father was a diesel mechanic at White Motors and they had all the cool toys, the father had an early 60’s Dodge Max Wedge. Both the brothers raced 1/4 Midgets at the local dirt ovals here in Akron, open lots behind Drive In theaters were popular locations for the small oval tracks, The East Drive In was just 5 mins from our neighborhood.

Cheap fun growing up.

Around the same time, in the 70s, a guy who worked with my father had a green 1969 Plymouth GTX 440 with a black vinyl roof
I got to drive it around, even took it to high school a few times, and gave a girl a ride to McDonald's at lunchtime.
