I feel like none of this belongs in the photo thread, but if you end up going SSSA on your racer I'm all for it!Warwick Biggs wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 1:08 amI just happen to have a spare NC30 swing arm. What have you started...?

I know Jim Zemanek, the guy who did the frame work on this bike, very well. He's built several frames like this one using swing arms from VFR750 Hondas. His personal ride is done this way as well. They handle just fine. Perhaps not racing lean angles, but he's not on the track.

Re: Best Photos of Your CBX
You are right Phil so here are the best photos of my CBX backin 2016 when it still looked like a Prolink and it was only slightly shorter and on 18" boomerang wheels. The contemporary Lump would run rings around it on the track but it was still a quick racer and truer to it's roots.

Re: Best Photos of Your CBX
The photos are over exposed but I like them anyway because the bike looks like a CBX. Just like the modern iterations of Norton Commandos don't quite look right on 17" wheels so CBX's on 17's are never quite right aesthetically. I think Georges Martin realised this and built all his CBX frames to take no less than 18's.

This remains my favourite action shot of the Lump. Taken by Phil Ainsley at the 2018 Island Classic while accelerating out of MG a few minutes b4 I crashed it, trying too hard to pass a TZ750.
I will move the technical discussion on the use of the ELF arm back to CBX Racing.

I'm going to replace these 41 year old tires shortly but so far this is the best picture I have of my '81.

That looks great without the fairing although it might lengthen your riding season.
How long before the season begins ? Suggestion : tie the switch box wire harnesses
up to the handlebars. Happy trails !

Late April to late September is usually the safest bet for us. Too short but I don’t do gravel on the roads on these street bikes!

Hi Jay, that's a longer season than I thought depending on what you call comfortable temps.
Come on down to Texas. It will be 75f here later today.

That’s basically 32f to 32f.The highest we get on the coast is typically 75. I ride when I can see the pavement and the gravel is swept off. Sometimes we get a little long into October but once the first snow/gravel happens even if it melts away the pavement is done for the year.bobcat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 2:26 amHi Jay, that's a longer season than I thought depending on what you call comfortable temps.

I’m from Atlanta originally so I used to ride year round. Oh well, now I ski and order parts online 6 months a year. Ha!
Our season is short but when it’s good, it’s REALLY good.

VFR750R swingarm. Brembo Master. Height of CBR929RR frt forks is indeed a little lower but the bike rides extremely well. A little scary with the 1260cc race engine that Carl put together.
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.

Wicked. Would love to see more photos of that custom paint. When was it done?

Re: Best Photos of Your CBX
The custom paint is only on the side panels and front fender, was probably done in the eighties. The seat cowl and gas tank are completely stock paint. Makes me wonder if it has always been this way or if they were replaced.
I would prefer to go back to stock but it is very nicely done the special paint, seems to be a perfect match although it fades to black near the pinstripes.
It used to have a not so pretty fairing on there, but that one didn't have special paint either.
