Rear Master Cylinder / Reservoir Hose

Post by jnnngs »

Hi,

I am looking for a new hose to connect the rear brake fluid reservoir to the master cylinder.

I searched the site and the question has been asked before, but has anyone come up with a solution?

Paul.

Are they not available stock from Honda?

According to this article Tygon 2075 in the appropriate diameter is available at McMaster-Carr.

No - the hose appears to be NLA.

Thanks for the link, I'll take a look.

Paul: the original hose is NLA, but there is a guy in Michigan, JR Luksik, he is here ever so often under CBXtras, he sells great replacement hose by the foot.

I have been looking for some also but can't seem to find the braided hose like the original. Is that what Jr. has? :handgestures-fingerscrossed:

Other Hondas from the era (CB1100F, maybe others) had hoses of the same material. The 1100F's was longer, but can be cut to length, and was still available.

Dave - thanks, CMSNL has the CB1100F hose, so will give that a try.

For the rear brake hose, if the braiding isn't worn much and you can trim the frayed ends a bit, just paint the hose with the same satin black you would use on other CBX trim. It will hold up pretty well.

Ebay has them but in lengths of 3ft and up and quiet pricey at about $6 per foot. What size is that hose?

The complication is that you need to get the correct type of hose. Apparently, standard fuel hose can't be used for brake fluid - it's typically nitrile and you need EPDM or something like that.

Thanks for the update, Sasha. That will be much quicker than CSM -- believe me!
