Santa Fe Motorado
For those of you who live out West, the Santa Fe "Motorado" has been a great bike show for 4 years running, and this year we're trying to make it a CBX-travaganza! Three of my CBX friends are bringing their CBXes to show all four years in one exhibit, and they are four VERY nice bikes (check out the pics below):
1. Steve Steenrods near-perfect 1979
2. Jack Jason's immaculate 1980
3. Wes Anderson's award-winning 1981 (sorry, Cindy won't let him bring the babes...)
4. And my pretty-nice 1982.
We're also trying to get a bunch of local CBXers from Albuquerque & neighboring states to bring their six-machines too as the organizers of the show have promised to give us our own row of sixes next to the "all four years" exhibit. So if any of you folks around the country have been thinking about a trip out West to see the Rockies, this could be a great excuse to visit Santa Fe, meet fellow six-addicts, and join us for a ride on the High Road to Taos!
The show is on Sunday, June 21st - check out the the web site at http://www.motorado.org for more info, or contact me.

Too bad Wes won an award with his beautiful '81 and he had to hang onto the plaque.
Will the Benelli Brigade be there too?

Perhaps Cindy told him to keep both hands on the plaque and in plain sight.steve murdoch icoa #5322 wrote:Too bad Wes won an award with his beautiful '81 and he had to hang onto the plaque.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

I'm afraid not - too many cylinders to clean... Plus, the last time I brought my 750 Sei, the seat got all dirty:

Sad to say I'm going to miss you guys by a week. We will be coming through there in an RV with a BMW on the back, but a week later. Way to represent!

Dave, I'll be three weeks into a month-long RV trip (with a motorcycle) visiting a half-dozen of the western National Parks. I give myself a pass .

Phil,
Yes, I know Mike well - he's part of the old "Dawn's" group of CBXers who used to meet there every Sunday. He has an amazing collection of bikes!

Re: Santa Fe Motorado
Good to hear Vince, Mike is a really nice, talented guy. I drove to Abq. a few years ago to deliver a CBX to Mike.vinceciotti wrote:Phil,

Re: Santa Fe Motorado
Phil: Is this the "Rocketman" bike? Did Mike buy this from you?
On the original subject: It would be a nice ride for Mike from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. I did this 12 years ago. It took us through a quaint art colony named "Madrid". That appeared a couple of years later in the movie "Wild Hogs"

Re: Santa Fe Motorado
Mike,
Yes it is the "Rocketman" bike. It came to me from Tom Whaley (RIP). It was a very nice, unusual CBX. I knew that it needed someone special to work on it and I did not have the time to give it with all my other projects. It definitely went to the right place. Mike V. did a fantastic job sorting it out. Mike's knowledge and attention to detail turned this bike into a gorgeous CBX.

Re: Santa Fe Motorado
A bit of uncertainty BUT I intend to bring to Santa Fe for June 21:
Near NEW 1981 with 1736.9 miles original including factory showroom tires and break-in decals. (Only Rick Pope has seen it in my cluttered garage during the C2C trip on HWY50)
and
1979 Candy Glory with 47470 miles and the wrong seat upholstery engine XXXx106
Please consider making room in the tent,
Keith Boughton #4511

Re: Santa Fe Motorado
Keith! How have you been?
Yep, that '81 is REALLY nice, and your '79 is awfully nice for a bike that gets ridden that much.
Yes, it was when Susan and I were doing the pre-run for the C2C that you gave us the peek in your garage. Dam, that was 10 years ago.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.
