NEWSFLASH: California to BC Rally (June 29 - July 8)
California to British Columbia Rally
June 29 - July 8
See below for the overall plan and specific stops for each day.
Can't make the entire rally meet us in the evening at one of the stops near you
This could be the CBX ride of a lifetime. Coast to Coast through the most beautiful scenery the United States has to offer. Yupppp.... Southern California to British Columbia. Ride the entire event or simply join in one of the rally stopping places near you. This is indeed ICOA and CBXer history.
Tony MacNeil is having his rally July 7/8 in Canada. The weekend before the 4th will be a gathering in San Diego. That week we will have a casual ride from San Diego to Canada, seeing the sites, exploring the back-roads, endangering small woodland creatures with extinction if they get in our way. You wouldn't believe the variety of roads, terrain, and scenery on this little ride. The route will stay off the interstates and on the 2 lane highways. My goal now is to plan the route. The stops will be close to interstates.

SCHEDULE & HOTEL STOPs
Can't make the entire rally meet us in the evening at one of the stops near you
Here are web sites for the hotels we're staying at. The last one is in Enumclaw, WA. It's in the shadows of Mount Ranier. We can stay there or go into BC. I figure we can make that decision when we get to Grants Pass. As far as the route planned, We'll check the weather on a daily basis before leaving and take either the shortest distance (rainy days) or the scenic route.

June 29/30: Friday & Saturday

Get together at the Seacoast Inn in Imperial Beach. It's on the beach between San Diego and Tijuana. Cook out, eat in, ogle scantily clad, promiscuous beach babes sauntering down the boardwalk. Take photos of George in his speedo. The V12 CBX may be there also. Go for rides. The aerospace and automotive museum at Balboa Park.

July 6/7: Friday & Saturday
Phone the Kuskanax Lodge at 1-800- 663-0100 for reservations. Mention the CBX Club for the group rates as follows:2 dbl beds $79.95 CDN./night
1 King bed with in suite Jacuzzi $109.95 CDN/night; 1 queen and 1 single $64.95CDN/night; Taxes extra. There will be a $10 Rally charge to cover event insurance.
Reserve ASAP as the town of Nakusp is well known as a destination for groups and clubs. The BMW, Laverda, Honda DOHC and Harley Owners Clubs have all hosted rallies there. The roads are tasty and twisty, the mountain scenery spectacular, and the locals very friendly. Enjoy a small town BC experience. The OKeefe Ranch Vintage Bike Show is held the same weekend in Vernon about 75 miles away over the #1 rated Monashee Pass Highway. Ainsworth Hot Springs are also close by.
See http://www.kuskanax.kootenays.com/ for details on the Lodge and Nakusp.
There will be group rides and a banquet meal both nights. Last year we had CBX'rs from BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Washington state. This area is PRIME riding country. See you there.

I will edit this post as I make plans
Here's what I'm thinking.
Fri/Sat-Jun 29/30: Get together at the Seacoast Inn in Imperial Beach. It's on the beach between San Diego and Tijuana. Cook out, eat in, ogle scantily clad, promiscuous beach babes sauntering down the boardwalk. Go for rides. The aerospace and automotive museum at Balboa Park.
Sun-Jul 1: Early to rise and head up to the Rock Store for breakfast. It's a good 2 hour ride. From there a nice ride through the hills, Angeles Nat Forest and Los Padres Nat Forest. We will end up in Frazier Park.
Mon-Jul 2: Riding back roads to Santa Maria, visiting Neverland (just kidding), the coast road to Monterey for dinner, and staying at the Brookdale Lodge. The restaurant at the lodge is closed mon/tues.
Tues-Jul 3: Riding into San Francisco for breakfast and then up the coast to Eureka.
Wed-Jul 4: Goin to Grants Pass for fireworks and stay the night. There's many ways to get there and we'll decide on that in the morn, depending on weather.
Thur-Jul 5: After a late start, destination Canada. Straight up the interstate.
Fri/Sat-Jul 6/7: Makin Like a Canadian.
Sun-Jul 8: I am doing my border to border insanity south to Mexico. Hopefully I'll be home Sunday night.
I am open to any ideas and feedback that you have.
Are these the kind of people you'll follow across the country?

Kaye might have to work. Vikki can surely hitch a ride, My trailer holds 4 bikes (but only 3 CBX's, wonder why(maybe that's what Kaye means when she says bigger is better))? I have 6 months to figure that out. Right now I'm concentrating on 3 area's:
1: Things to do in San Diego
2: Route's
3: Places to stay

Hey,
Just saw this thread. Yup, the B.C. CBX Rally is July 7 & 8th. Come on up! Last year it was in Nakusp. Next couple of weeks will see the site posted here. We have been thinking of New Denver, just need to nail down a good motel. Hello to all!
I will check in often..
Happy New Year!

Give the chase truck/trailer a days head start in the general direction of the ride. Keep cell phones handy and call if you need to rendevous.

A link to Alices in case you want breakfast about 35 miles from Brookdale instead of SF. Right at the 35/84 junction, taking 9 north from Brookdale.
