Need a recommendation for a Shipper

Post by 6Pipes »

Hi all,

I'm still searching for that perfect 1st CBX. I have a possibility in so. cal. and would need to ship it to Morgantown WV. Any suggestions for who to call for quotes? I went on line and did the "quick quote" on various web sites and it looks like $800.00 - $900.00 to move the bike on a palet across country. Ouch!

I live in So Cal and when I sold my turbo ZRX to a guy in New York I shipped
It to him Forward Air. They have a nice container for bikes with 4 points for
tie downs. It cost $690.00 from LA to NY. The bike got there without any
damage. That was my one and only experience shipping a motorcycle, and
it was positive !

I recently checked on prices from AL to CA and they ranged from well, I'll list them below,

JC Motors--$732
Haul Bikes--$640
DAS--$679
MoverQuest--$630
Allied--$641

These are all palletized and strapped inside an enclosed trailer.
It ain't the destination, its the journey...

That my be an important consideration. Forward Air only ships from terminal to terminal and for some of the others you may need a truck dock :!:

UShip is hit or miss, only because it's just a marketplace. That said, I got my trailer full of stuff moved through there and also found a good mover there for many thousands less than I was quoted by other companies. Mind the reputation aspect of it and be careful and you can have success.

Haulbikes.com

All their drivers are riders.
All they do are bikes, not pianos, cars, hot dog stands....just bikes.
Very professional.
Personal experience has been very positive.

Good luck.

Haulbikes, AKA DailyDirect, AKA wehaulbikes, or what're they are calling themselves lately to try to outrun their reputation SUCK. They lied repeatedly about where my bike was, when it would be delivered, and screwed up the first week of a big trip because they were 5 days late. If you search for any of their past names you'll find my story repeated over and over by other people.

Call Louis' cousin Larry, or use ForwardAir, or the Federal Companies and get an AMA discount. Call ANYONE but haulbikes. They SUCK.

Pretty sure this is Larry's outfit - he has shipped bikes for me twice and been perfect both times.

I have used Larry from Eagle 1 shipping. He has a specialized rig for transporting bikes and does a great job, very economical if you are not in a hurry, I had a bike shipped from CA to Ohio for $650.

His phone # is (209) 495 3729

Cheers, Jan

Yes Federal brought two (not three) of my bikes out west when I moved because Larry's schedule could not permit them to get there in time. They came with an empty 40-foot box truck with a liftgate and two specialized palettes, and two men. They spent an hour very slowly and methodically moving the bikes into the truck, onto the palette and strapping them down, noting every teeny nick and scuff on the bill of lading. Very professional, very careful. The bikes arrived on time and I knew where they were at all times too. My single gripe is that they were very dirty when they arrived, but they were in perfect condition. Would use them again if Larry couldn't do what I needed.

Updating this old thread, last I knew Larry was out of this business and a guy named Manny had taken it over. I tried to work with Manny twice, found him unresponsive and indifferent. Will not try again.
